Your Data, Plainly Explained

What we collect
Only what the marketplace actually needs to work:
- Account details — your name, email address, and (if you list or sell) a phone number and location. This is how we sign you in and how buyers and sellers reach each other.
- Listing information — everything you enter about a drone you're selling: model, condition, flight hours, battery cycles, repair history, photos, and the packed weight and box size we use to quote shipping.
- Flight and maintenance records — if you add flight logs or inspection notes to a listing, we store them so buyers can see an honest history of the aircraft.
- Verification documents — your pilot license and any condition paperwork you upload for review.
- Transactions — what you bought or sold, the amount, shipping destination, and payout status.
- Basic usage data — which pages you visit, so we can tell what's working and what's broken.
We never ask for and never see your full card number. Payments run through Stripe, which handles card details directly under its own PCI-compliant systems.
What's public and what isn't
This part matters most, so we'll be specific.
Public on your listing: the drone's model and specs, its condition, flight hours, battery cycles, damage and repair disclosures, crash history, warranty status, photos, your display name, and the general area the drone ships from. Buyers need this to make a fair decision.
Never public: your pilot license number and license document, your uploaded condition paperwork, your phone number, your email address, your exact street address, and your payout details. Those are visible only to you and to our review team.
Messages between a buyer and a seller are visible only to those two people and, if a dispute is opened, to the person on our team resolving it.
How we keep it secure
- Everything you send us travels over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and your data is encrypted where it's stored.
- Our database enforces per-record access rules, so your listings, orders, messages, and documents can only be read by you, the other party in a transaction, and our review team when a review or dispute requires it.
- License documents and condition paperwork are stored in private file storage, not on the public web. They're reachable only through short-lived links generated for an authorized reviewer.
- Card payments are processed and stored by Stripe. Funds held in Protected Payments sit with our payment processor, not in an account we can quietly move money out of.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your information, rent it, or hand it to advertisers. We share only what's necessary with the services that make the marketplace run:
- Stripe — to take payments, hold Protected Payments, and pay sellers.
- Our email provider — to send order updates, approvals, and messages.
- A geocoding service — to turn the city you typed into a map location and a shipping distance.
- Law enforcement — only if we're legally required to, or if someone's safety is at risk.
If we ever bring on a new service that touches your data, this page gets updated before it goes live.
Your choices
- See and edit your data — your profile and dashboards show everything we hold about you, and you can change it any time.
- Delete a listing — you can remove your own drone listings, pilot services, and gallery posts, as long as there's no sale in progress.
- Close your account — from your profile, no phone call required.
- Delete your account — email us and we'll remove your account and personal information. We keep the minimum transaction records that tax and anti-fraud rules require, with your personal details stripped out.
- Stop the emails — every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. Order and dispute emails keep coming while a transaction is live, because you need them.
How long we keep it
Account and listing information stays as long as your account is open. Completed transaction records are kept for seven years, which is what tax and dispute rules require. Verification documents are deleted once a listing has been reviewed and closed out. Messages are kept while your account is open so you have a record of what was agreed.
Cookies and tracking
We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your cart. We also use basic analytics and Google Ads conversion measurement to understand where our visitors come from and whether our ads work. We don't run third-party advertising networks on the site, and we don't build advertising profiles about you.
Children
Avionic Ledger is for adults. You must be 18 or older to hold an account, since selling aircraft and taking payments are things minors can't legally do. If we learn an account belongs to a minor, we close it and delete the data.
Questions, or want your data removed?
Use the contact form and tell us what you need — a copy of your data, a correction, or full deletion. A real person reads it, and we'll get back to you within a few days.
If we make a meaningful change to this policy, we'll update the date at the top and email account holders before it takes effect.
